Mosquitoes

Mosquitoes, 90 min, est. release 2026

Behind the rocky hills of Australia’s first nude beach are neighbours Ali, a middle-aged waitress, and Evelyn, a Canadian artist nearing 90. When a surprise invitation sets off a rambling roadtrip to stage a retrospective at the Vancouver Art Gallery, they choose to take the scenic route through Evelyn’s past lives. Her “grand finale” will be documented by Jen, a filmmaker and Ali’s only child. Building on decades of erratic voicemails, home movies, and the creeping realisation the film being made is actually about unsung mothers, their trip spirals into tequila-soaked madness, testing the boundaries of love, labour, and legacy. Shot across a decade on multiple formats, MOSQUITOES is full-on assemblage dripping with feels—think GREY GARDENS meets ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS—a one-of-kind romp revealing two fascinating women that could only be made from the inside.
